HEIC is often used by modern phones because it can store images efficiently. JPG is still the easier format for websites, forms, and email attachments because it is supported almost everywhere.
Use HEIC when
- You want efficient storage on your own device.
- You are staying inside an ecosystem that already supports it well.
Use JPG when
- You need broad compatibility.
- You are uploading to job portals, forms, school sites, or older software.
- You want a format other people can usually open without extra steps.
If a site rejects an iPhone photo, converting HEIC to JPG is usually the fastest fix.
